Diy Paper Bag Flooring
This DIY paper bag flooring, a much cheaper and easier alternative to wood or epoxy flooring, and can be very satisfying. Still, you may face many difficulties in the process, and some are even things that might be a bit too original for an entrepreneur, which is exactly what Ashley of the "Domestic Imperfection" blog did. Check out how Ashley did the job via the link:Here's a video from Grace Lauer on paper bag flooring tips, tools and supplies for concrete subfloors.
This Diy Flooring Is Either Totally Brilliant Or Totally Doomed
Media Platforms Design TeamPaper bags are practical for many things: Transporting groceries from the supermarket to the house. And now, apparently, updating dull old floors. When she couldn't stand the dirty carpet in her playroom anymore, Lesley, who blogs at Chaoticly Creative Co., turned months of errands into brand new flooring for the space. We were, too, when we first heard about paper bag flooring on Hometalk, but it's basically papier mache on steroids. Media Platforms Design Team
Essentially, Lesley used a mixture of water and glue to glue torn pieces of the paper bags to her floor, then coated the finished product with sealant. But still, disposable items are, well, meant to be disposed of. Leslie claims it's remarkably durable, and we're inclined to believe her, but we guess time will tell.

Paper Bag Flooring Diy
The Budget Decorator
Sometimes one of the toughest decorating challenges we face when we're on a budget is replacing old, worn, or ugly floors. If you have linoleum flooring that has seen better days, or if you simply want a more natural or luxurious look in your rooms, hold on to your hat! Now let's move on to the brown paper bag floor DIY tutorial. brown paper bag floorPaper Bag Soil DIY Supplies:
Paper bags or a roll of brown craft paper from the mailing supplies aisle (enough to cover your entire floor, with some overlap)
Gallon of water-based polyurethane (I recommend Minwax Polycrylic or Minwax Fast Drying Polyurethane) Lowes, Home Depot or Walmart
Scissors
old work clothes
Strong knees and back! Instructions for a paper bag floor
The first step
First, install the "Closed Room" sign! Second step
Now clean the floor thoroughly...it's a great idea here, and you can find it in the painting section. Only use the scissors to create a straight edge on certain pieces to line up against cabinets, walls, or a change in flooring. Step 4
Pour a small amount of polyurethane onto the floor where you will place your first piece, and smooth it out with a brush, although I preferred to use my hands. Lay the piece of paper down, add some poly to the top of the paper and smooth it out. If you find bubbles forming under the floor of your paper bag, poke the bubble with a pin, add some more poly, and smooth out. Fifth stage
Once you are done covering the entire floor with paper, allow the poly to dry. Tips:
When you notice the floor becoming dull, clean and add a maintenance coat of poly. "Lil Red House" did a paper bag flooring project in their bathroom. "Lil Blue Boo" used his brown paper floor to make his commercial space awesome!

Paper Bag Flooring On Concrete
I like the look of the unstained paper as well as the process of tearing the paper to look like rocks. A quick internet search will yield countless variations, even some that look like wooden planks. The list of basic supplies:
Heavy contractor paper (from the painting section at Menard). Although Elmer works for laying paper on wood, we were laying on concrete. The floor finish is the most expensive part of this project, but this particular brand applied very easily, dried quickly, and had very little odor. We were covering concrete slabs in the basement, so I filled the grooves between the slabs with DAP putty and sanded again. For the "rock" look, tear the paper into randomly sized "rock" formations. If you want an even color pattern, mark the underside of the paper with a pencil to know which side to put down. I mixed my glue in a bucket, then poured a portion into a paint tray and dipped my pieces of paper into the tray, using a paintbrush to make sure each portion of the paper was covered. Then, using the brush, gently brush away any large air bubbles before moving on to the next piece. We love the look of the floor, it cleans up easily and for some reason it's super soft to walk on. We have also placed some comfortable rugs on part of the floor as the concrete can be cold to sit on.
